Dog Grooming Course

dog grooming kit for new students.jpg

We've hand picked all our own favourite grooming tools that we use in our day to day work to create this grooming kit, which is included in the Award level course for all new students. Please note that items may vary slightly depending on stock availability at the time of booking but it will always be tools that we would use ourselves.

Our beginner's dog grooming course is aimed at adults who want to gain a solid foundation on which to begin a career as a dog grooming assistant and who have no prior experience. During this course you will be introduced to all aspects of the role of a dog groomer including health and safety, safe handling of dogs, safe handling of equipment, excellent bathing and drying skills and an introduction to safe use of clippers and scissors.

The course will run one day a week when you attend practical training at 9am, for ten weeks. In the afternoons you will access online lessons, learning assignments, regular video calls and resources. At the end of the course you will be formally assessed with a practical exam and written assessments on an e-portfolio.

You will have groomed ten different dogs during the course and upon successful completion of practical and written assessments you will receive the iPET Network Level 3 Award in an Introduction to Dog Grooming qualification.

At the end of this course you should feel confident in working as a dog grooming assistant and will know how to progress onto further training to develop more advanced styling skills.

The cost of this course is £1800 which includes and starter scissor set and one extra practical assessment if needed. All other grooming tools and equipment will be provided for use during the course. To apply for a place, please download the application form by clicking the 'Apply now' button.

Level 3 Dog Grooming Qualifications

We offer two other qualifications in dog grooming which are available to our successful Award students or groomers with some experience.

iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and an Introduction to Styling

This is available only to students undertaking the level 3 Award and wish to continue their development in styling and grooming, or to those who already have some experience or other recognised qualification. They must sign up before they complete the Award so the training they have done so far counts as recognised prior learning. The cost is £2150 and consists of 15 practical grooms, 5 afternoons of online study and 10 afternoons of work experience assisting in our busy salon.

iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog grooming and Salon Management

Available to groomers with a minimum of 2 year's professional experience who are able to complete this via a fast track method. To be eligible you would need to provide a portfolio of grooms to prove you are working at the required standard and an employer's reference. You would need to complete 10 grooming diaries in your own salon, 7 written assessments via an ePortfolio, a one day first aid course with us and 3 practical assessments. The cost is £1250
